A Day at Junior II Camp

This post is longer than I've ever done before but I thought you might like to see what happens on a typical day here at Peniel Bible Camp. These pictures were mostly taken on Thursday and Friday during Junior II Camp.

The day begins with "Sunrise (Citizens rise, too)" at 7:00 here at the Kingdom of Peniel. At 7:50 the banner is raised.

8:00 Morning Provisions in Golden Castle

By 8:30 the "citizens" have cleared out and begun cleaning the Kingdom. Each "town/village" has an assigned area clean-up as well as the responsibility of cleaning their own home town or village (cabin).

Meanwhile, King's court is held (daily staff meeting) in the Conference Room in Ashbrook Hall.

Campers work hard cleaning cabins, hoping to earn battle points that can be used for Saturday morning's Castle Conquest.

Cabins are at their best immediately following clean-up. (It goes downhill the rest of the day!)

As chores are completed, campers spend the extra minutes learning Bible verses.

9:00 - Pilgrimage to the Cathedral (morning chapel)

While the campers are in the Cathedral, the Head Counselors (Nobleman and Noblewoman) check the towns/villages to award battle points for cleanliness.

10:15 - Daily Armament (Personal devotions)

10:45 - Apprenticeship (Skills Classes) - Campers get to take one class on Tuesday & Wednesday and then another on Thursday & Friday.

...Kubbs

...Fishing class (a lot more fun when you pull in "the big one!")

...Canoeing

...Crafts

...Swimming lessons

...Disc Golf - learning to throw the discs

...Sports Clinic (volleyball, soccer, basketball, etc.)

...BB Guns

...or archery

The kitchen staff spends many hours preparing tasty meals for the campers and staff. This week we are feeding around 140 people.

The camp nurse dispenses camper meds at meal times and bedtime. She is on call 24/7.

12:00 - Midday Provisions (lunch)

12:45 - Inn your Town/Village (back to the cabin for some resting time)

- a time to work on verses and say them to a counselor...

or talk with a counselor about the chapel message.

1:45 - Girls on the High Seas (swim time)

1:45 Boys' Crusades (out on the field)

2:45 - Mercantile (store time, free time)

3:45 - Boys on the High Seas (swim time)

3:45 - Girls Crusades (Human Fooseball)

5:30 - Siege of Golden Castle (assemble on the lawn in front of Ashbrook Hall to prepare for supper, the Feast!)

After lowering the banner (flag lowering), Castle Conquest games take place out in the field.

7:15 - Mercantile (Go to the camp store for some extra provisions and clean up for evening chapel.) Campers enjoy all the games outside and inside the Rec Hall during this free time.

8:15 - Chronicles in the Cathedral (Mrs. Perry told a story each evening from the first book in the Terrestria Chronicles by Ed Dunlop, The Sword, the Ring, and The Parchment.)

8:30 - Pilgrimage in the Cathedral (singing and preaching)

Around 9:30 campers (pilgrims) got ready for bed and then had cabin (village or town) devotions. Bedtime was scheduled for 10:15. Campers were then "under cover" until the start of another day.
